Trinnov Altitude - Deviations of Subwoofer Settings and Results (English preferred)

  • In the last weeks in this forum several cases of deviations of REW measurements to the target curves settings in the subwoofer frequency range have been reported.

This thread is foreseen to collect these reports.

To make it as easy as possible for Trinnov support to understand the issues it is preferred that the we use english language.

It is not important to use most sophisticated english language, as long as it is clear and understandable it is okay.

If you are unfamiliar with english language you can use google translate.

    Please notice:

The goal of this thread is to collect systematic data that will enable Trinnov support to fix the issues.

So please stay friendly and constructive in your postings.

  • Hallo zusammen,

    LG,

    Thorsten

  • Level Alignment equalises Output Equalizers and Target Curves, generates sharp frequency drops:

When the level Alignment is activated, the target curves and equaliser output settings are not implemented correctly.

In addition, sharp level reductions are generated at approx. 65hz, for example.

    This Target Curve:

Shows at the Optimizer (comparsion with an "All Zero" Flat TC:

    Generate this Output:

    With more maxBoost:

The same, with the output EQ:

    Generate this:

With lowered Level Alignment, +3dB and -3dB:

A little more Bass Gain, no sharp Drop at 70hz.

Here another Comparsion, TargetCurve like above, +10dB BassBoost
    Optimizer full on: Green

    Only with Level Alignment: Orange

Optimizer Acustic Correction ON, Delay Alignment ON, Level Alignment off: Green:

    Summary:

With Level Alignment On, TargetCurves and Output EQs will be equalized, most time with sharp Frequency Drops (in my case most at about 70hz).

With Level Alignment Off, all works well. TargetCurves will be done like drawn, Output EQs works well, no Frequency Drops.

  • Same here, posted measurements in the trinnov thread before and told the local distributor to reach out to them. Too lazy to do more unpaid support work for them at this point tho.

  • I don't agree, there's only like 4 big AV forums with trinnov threads.

It doesn't need 500 people to read those, i do that in my free time.

And the error seems quite trivial for me to fix, as it completely disappears if automatic loudspeaker alignment is turned OFF. That function is supposed to do absolutely nothing besides regulating the master level of the speakers.

    To quote their own manual:

Level Alignment ON/OFF: disable the automatic alignment of speaker levels, meaning that no automatic gain changes will
    be applied to the outputs;

It's done when it's done is fair enough for new feature but they broke expensive calibrations that no longer sound like they used to, all my old presets have the bug... people either spend their own time or paid calibrators to set up their systems

  • Eher umgekehrt.

    @Englisch/Deutsch

  • Mes amis,

Well I have to apologise, I talk to the R&D after our conversation, and they are well aware about that. They are working on something that should fix this issue in the next update.

  • BTW disabling level alignement did not solve the problem for me. I have a downward sloping curve from 30Hz to 16 kHz (-15db) and the Trinnov Graphs show a downward curve but measurements with REW (with an Earthwork M23) show no change to the speaker. :(

  • Same problem.

And additionally i send trinnov some rew messurements because i think there are some general problems with the optimizer. My messurements shows a more linear frequency response over 200hz in many parts with optimizer off in comparesation to optimizer on. And with optimizer on i have up to 15db difference from upper to lower peak (with 1/6 smoothing).

I never saw these with the 4.3.1 firmware.

I am looking forward to the answer from trinnov.

  • I asked to be rolled back to 4.3.1 but they said it is not possible. Yesterday I did a complete new calibration from the built in preset but the problem remains.

I am also glad I found the option in the forum to block users much more enjoyable now to participate (you know who you are). ;-)
